Fire Protection Engineering, Master of Science (M.S.)

Thesis only: 30 credits

The Master of Science (M.S.) degree program requires a research thesis and completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours of approved courses. Individual coursework plans are determined by the student, his or her advisor and the department. The M.S. research thesis should make a contribution to the advancement in the state-of-the-art of fire safety science and/or engineering. In addition to a M.S. degree, the department also offers a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree which requires 30 credit hours of approved courses in major and minor core areas. The M.Eng. degree does not include a research thesis. The department's degree requirements are given in detail in its graduate guide, see http://www.fpe.umd.edu/grad.
