Abstract

The Certificate of Professional Studies in School Librarianship will provide individuals with the coursework required to qualify for certification as a school librarian (library media specialist) in Maryland and in other states with similar certification requirements. The eight required courses, all offered online, may be completed within an 18 month period.
 
In order to enroll in the certificate program, individuals must have a Master’s of Library and Information Science degree or a Master’s degree in another field of study and a degree in Education or substantial K-12 teaching experience.
