College: Behavioral & Social Sciences

The online Post-Master's Certificate in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology for Practitioners provides speech language pathologists with the knowledge and skills needed to serve clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The 12-credit program utilizes the semester academic calendar to offer five courses that emphasize the clinical application and training in bilingual service delivery. Upon completion, students will be able to diagnose communication disorders in both bilingual and monolingual speakers, apply intervention strategies for treatment of communication disorders, demonstrate knowledge about current issues in cultural and linguistic diversity in the field of speech-language pathology, and explain the social and cognitive processes underlying bilingualism and bilingual language development. A conferred master's degree in speech-language pathology is required for full admission into this certificate. Students can begin applying in the final semester of their master's program.
