Chemical and Life Sciences, Master of Chemical and Life Sciences (M.Clfs.)

Non-thesis only (scholarly paper required): 30 credits

Students with a thorough and up to date understanding of biology or chemistry, and who are admitted without condition¹, may elect to take the appropriate Admission Exam. The Admission Exams are generally based on the content of CLFS510 or CLFS520. Students who feel that they can benefit from a review may take CLFS510 or CLFS520. A passing grade (B) on either the Admission Exam or CLFS510/CLFS520 is sufficient for admission to the MCLFS program as a degree-seeking student. Students may take individual courses in the MCLFS program as Advanced Students. Up to 12 credits may be taken in this way. A maximum of six credits from other institutions may be transferred in with approval of the Director. (See: Transfer Form) The program's curriculum consists of 30 credit hours selected from the list below (not including CLFS510 or CLFS520). Included in the 30 hours are 6 credits of CLFS710 or the equivalent, and the completion of a scholarly paper. No more than six hours of CLFS608 credits may be counted towards the required 30 credits.

Students with undergraduate grade point averages below 3.0, who have not previously demonstrated superior performance in graduate courses, will be required to take CLFS510 or CLFS520. (Note: as a 500-level course this cannot be used to meet the credit requirements of the MCLFS program.)
