Abstract
The Graduate Certificate in Global Health is designed for students and working professionals who seek a foundational understanding of global health within the broader field of public health. This 12-credit, online, four-course program emphasizes the knowledge, skills, and analytical approaches needed to address pressing health challenges in a globalized world. Offered through the School of Public Health, the curriculum covers core concepts in global health systems, health behavior and communication, and program planning and evaluation, with flexibility to tailor elective coursework toward specific areas of interest.
Upon completion of the certificate, students will be able to interpret global health issues in a public health context; analyze how environmental, cultural, political, economic, and social structures shape health outcomes worldwide; compare and apply strategies such as behavior change communication, social marketing, and social mobilization; design and evaluate an intervention for a global health problem; and assess how social inequalities and human rights influence disease prevention and health promotion.
