Abstract

The Master of Professional Studies in Applied Entomology, a 30-credit, 10-course graduate program may be completed in as little as 15 months. Offered through the convenience and flexibility of the online learning environment, students enroll in two 3-credit courses per 12-week term.  In addition to the MPS in Applied Entomology, the Department of Entomology developed several fully online graduate certificate programs. Designed to offer flexibility to complete coursework in areas specific to your needs and interests (as well as to gain a valuable credential), successful completion of one or more of these programs may be used to fulfill requirements for the MPS. Each 12-credit program may be completed in one year by taking one 3-credit course per 12-week term.The Graduate Certificate programs are as follows:

  • Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Beekeeping
  • Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
  • Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Organic and Sustainable Agriculture
  • Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Urban Agriculture

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological field (exceptions can be made with work experience in a biological field and strong letters of recommendation)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (exceptions can be made with work experience in a biological field and strong letters of recommendation)
  • C/V or Resume
  • Description of Research/Work Experience

*Visa Eligibility: This program is not eligible for I-20 or DS-2019 issuance by the University of Maryland.
