PORT207 Intermediate Reading and Conversation in Portuguese II (3 Credits)
Advanced practice of oral and written Portuguese. Reading and discussions of texts, review of grammar, and vocabulary practice.

PORT222 Cannibals, Savages and Carnivalization: The Making of Brazilian National Culture (3 Credits)
Introduction to the main concepts, cultural movements, and ideas that have shaped Brazilian modern culture. Exploring some of the ways in which cultural cannibalism, savagery, and carnivalization have been deployed as symbolic frameworks in the construction of a national identity through analyses of film, literature, music and visual arts.
